BrushWiz review (2026): the most honest paperwork in the trade, on cotton canvas

A scored review of BrushWiz: Xiamen studio named, 14 to 21 days published, approval before shipping, 90-day returns that exclude framed and oversized work.

The short answer

Editors' rating 8.0 of 10, third in our ranking. It names its studio city, publishes processing and shipping days separately, and ships only after you approve a photo. It paints on cotton, and its 90-day return excludes framed and oversized work.

Editors’ rating8/10

Pros

  • Names its studio city, Xiamen, twice and without hedging
  • Publishes processing days and shipping days as separate numbers on the product page
  • Ships only after you approve a photograph, with free adjustments
  • Three wrap styles including a true gallery wrap, and edges painted on request
  • Free worldwide shipping with no size or destination exceptions, and duties explained

Cons

  • Cotton canvas, not linen
  • The 90-day return excludes framed artwork and anything 40 inches or larger
  • Up to 50% restocking on returns that fall outside the conditions, and the customer pays return postage
  • Only five Trustpilot reviews, none in the last twelve months, so the outside record is too thin to count
  • Framing is switched off above 38 inches, so large pieces arrive rolled
Best for
A large unframed canvas from a store that will tell you, in writing, where it is painted, how long it takes and what it will not take back.
Better alternative
If you want the same approval photograph and published lead time on linen rather than cotton, Art & See is the better pick on the canvas criterion: it states Belgian linen canvas and archival stretcher bars among its materials, where BrushWiz names 100% cotton fibre. It also takes framed work back, which BrushWiz's return exceptions list rules out.

The verdict

Most stores in this trade answer the awkward questions with adjectives. BrushWiz answers them with sentences. Where are the paintings made? "Most of our artwork is shipped directly from our primary studio in Xiamen, China." How long? "Processing Time: Usually 14 to 21 days" and "Shipping Time: Normally 5 to 8 days", listed separately so you can tell which part is the artist and which part is the courier. What if you never reply to the approval email? "If we still have not heard from you after 10 days, the order is released for shipment." That last one is the tell: a store that publishes the clause that works against it is generally telling the truth about the rest.

The scoring reflects that. BrushWiz takes full marks on published turnaround, painted sides, shipping transparency and custom sizes, and near-full marks on photo approval. What holds it at 7.9 rather than higher is a material and a caveat: the canvas is "made with 100% cotton fiber", not linen, and the 90-day return quietly excludes the two categories most likely to disappoint — framed paintings and anything 40 inches or larger.

How it scores, criterion by criterion

BrushWiz

Editors’ rating 8/10

Linen canvas stated
2/10

The materials block names "High quality artist-grade canvas" and "made with 100% cotton fiber" - cotton, stated plainly, not linen.

Published turnaround
10/10

The product page prints "Processed & shipped in 14-21 days" and a delivery date; the help centre splits it into "Processing Time: Usually 14 to 21 days" and "Shipping Time: Normally 5 to 8 days", 10-15 days for framed or oversized.

Photo proof before shipping
9/10

"The painting will be shipped only after you approve the finished result", with adjustments at no cost; the same page states that after three reminders and 10 days of silence the order is released anyway.

Return and refund terms
6/10

90 days for a full refund, but the exceptions list excludes "Artwork ordered with a frame" and "Oversized artwork measuring 40" or larger"; the customer normally pays return postage and a restocking charge of up to 50% applies to returns outside the conditions.

Painted sides / gallery wrap
10/10

Three wrap styles are offered - "Gallery Wrap: The painted image extends around the sides", Museum Wrap and Black Wrap - and the reproductions page confirms the studio will paint the edges on request.

Frame option at checkout
8/10

Twelve frames are priced on the Starry Night page at +$300 to +$340; the help centre gives $250-$500 for framing and disables the option once the longest side passes 38 inches.

Shipping cost transparency
9/10

"There is no charge for standard shipping, whatever the order size or delivery country", with FedEx and UPS named and a paragraph telling buyers duties are theirs and to "Contact your customs office for guidance about imports arriving from China".

Trustpilot score

Insufficient sample (n=5). TrustScore 4.0 from 5 reviews is below the 30-review floor this site requires before an outside rating counts, so the cell is left unscored rather than guessed at.

Declared painting origin
10/10

Stated twice without hedging. Shipping and Delivery: "Most of our artwork is shipped directly from our primary studio in Xiamen, China, after completion and quality inspection." Reproductions: "Most artwork is created at and ships directly from our main studio in Xiamen, China."

Custom sizes
10/10

Every product page carries a Custom Size tool alongside nine standard sizes from 22x18 in to 64x52 in.

What it costs

Bar chart of BrushWiz prices for The Starry Night at 22 by 18 inches, rolled through to framed
A frame doubles the bill on the smallest canvas — and, per the exceptions list, removes the right to return it. Oil Painting Reproductions

The Starry Night at 22 by 18 inches is $300 unframed, against a struck-through $600 under a countdown that says the sale ends 09/07/2026. Frames add $300 to $340, taking a small framed canvas to roughly $600 to $640. That is mid-market: cheaper than 1st Art Gallery framed, dearer than overstockArt at any size, and a long way under TOPofART. Where BrushWiz is genuinely competitive is at the top of its size range, because framing switches off above 38 inches and a 64 by 52 inch canvas ships rolled at a price no framed seller can match. Strengths and weaknesses

  • It names the city. Xiamen, twice, unprompted. Two of the eight stores name a country at all, and this is the more specific of the two.
  • Processing and shipping are separate numbers. That is the difference between knowing when a painting will exist and knowing when it will be on your wall.
  • Three wrap styles, described accurately. Gallery, museum and black wrap are distinguished, and the studio will paint edges on request.
  • Cotton, not linen. The store says so plainly, which is to its credit, but cotton is the cheaper ground and the one more prone to slackening in humidity.
  • The 90 days has holes in it. Framed and 40-inch-plus work is excluded, and a return that misses the conditions can be charged up to 50%.
  • Five Trustpilot reviews. For a store claiming 5,772 paintings reproduced in the past year, an outside review record of five is thin enough that this review declines to count it.

The gap between "5,772 masterpieces reproduced during the past year" on the About page and five Trustpilot reviews all older than twelve months is the one thing here that does not add up. It is not evidence of anything improper, and the site's own review section shows 4.8 out of 5. But an on-site rating is a number a store controls, and on the criterion of independent verification BrushWiz currently has almost nothing to show.

Who it is for

Buy here if you want the whole transaction written down before you commit: the studio's city, the number of days, the wrap style, the courier, the duty position and the return exceptions. Buy here especially for a large unframed canvas, where the price is good and the exclusion for oversized work costs you nothing you were going to use. If you are ordering a framed gift, read the exceptions list first and decide whether you are comfortable owning it either way.

If the ground matters as much as the paperwork, this is where BrushWiz gives something up. Art & See lists Belgian linen canvas and archival stretcher bars among its materials and still sends a photograph for approval before shipment, which is the same protection BrushWiz offers on a better surface. Frequently asked questions

Is BrushWiz legitimate?

It publishes more checkable detail than any other store in this survey: a named studio city, split processing and shipping times, a full returns exceptions list, a New York phone number and live chat. Its weakness is not credibility but corroboration — only five Trustpilot reviews exist, none from the last twelve months.

Where are BrushWiz paintings made?

Xiamen, China. The help centre states it twice: "Most of our artwork is created at and ships directly from our main studio in Xiamen, China." The same page warns buyers to check duties on imports arriving from China.

Can I return a framed BrushWiz painting?

No, not under the standard policy. "Artwork ordered with a frame" is on the return exceptions list, as is anything 40 inches or larger. A damaged or defective piece is still replaced free of charge.

Do they send a photo before shipping?

Yes. The finished painting is photographed and emailed for approval, adjustments are free, and it ships only once you agree — with one caveat published on the same page: after three reminders and ten days without a reply, the order is released anyway.

What canvas does BrushWiz use?

Artist-grade cotton. The materials block on the product page reads "Acid free and made with 100% cotton fiber". Cotton is the standard trade ground; linen is denser, more dimensionally stable and more expensive, and two stores in this survey use it.

How long does a BrushWiz order take?

Fourteen to twenty-one days to paint and dry, then five to eight days in transit to most destinations — ten to fifteen for framed, stretched or oversized parcels. Both figures are printed on the product page and repeated in the help centre.
